And after they had given thanks unto the God of Israel, my father Lehi took the records which were engraven upon the plates of brass, and he did search them from the beginning. And he beheld that they did contain the five books of Moses, which gave an account of the creation of the world, and also of Adam and Eve, who was our first parents, and also a record of the Jews from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah, king of Judah, and also the prophecies of the holy prophets, from the beginning, even down to the commencement of the reign of Zedekiah, and also many prophecies which have been spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah. And it came to pass that my father Lehi also found upon the plates of brass a genealogy of his fathers.” 1 Nephi 1:158-164 RAV, 5:10-14a OPV
A portion of the records written upon the plates of brass contains a record of the Jews. We see this mentioned in 1 Nephi 1:16 RAV, 3:3 OPV; 1:152 RAV, 5:6 OPV; 1:161 RAV, 5:12 OPV, and Omni 1:25 RAV, 1:14b OPV. The first books in this record is “An Account of the Life of Adam and Eve,” which states that Adam and Eve “are the first to enter into the presence of YHVH, thus being the first parents of Israel” (Adam & Eve 1:2). The second in The Book of the Wars of YHVH. At the time of this writing, only part of the first chapter of Adam and Eve and the first twenty-eight chapters of the Wars of YHVH have been translated. We are committed to putting out these translations as the Lord allows to give the Saints an opportunity to read, ponder, and pray on them as they are made available to us.
